For a short period
in the mid-17th century a small colony called New Sweden existed along
the lower Delaware River.
It was Sweden's only effort
at North American colonizating. Never well established, the colony struggled
briefly before surrendering to the Dutch.
But the Scandinavians
made one great contribution during their short stay – they gave us the
LOG CABIN!
